"The awe of singing in venues such as St Paul’s Cathedral and the wonder of nature as seen through outdoor learning all contribute to the spiritual aspect of pupils’ personal development." Ofsted

Grow Your Own Playground!

Gardening is a passion for us all because we want the children are able to experience the joys of learning in nature, growing and eating you food and be in awe of the beauty of the natural world. With the support of Trees for Cities and Clifford Chance we have created distinctly different gardens in areas around the school. There is the prayer garden, a natural environment often home to our outdoor prayer station where children can contemplate peace, tranquility and write their hopes for the future.

In our secret garden they can feast upon our soft fruits of redcurrants, black currants, gooseberries and varieties of raspberries, enough for the whole school to share or explore our forest school and story telling area.

For all year fun, each class digs, tends, plants and grows their own produce in their own raised beds.  This is exciting range from rhubarb, used in our school cake to artichokes or fresh herbs for lunch! Our gardening teacher is Cassie Liverside and she and her team help us to Grow Your Own Playground - growyourownplayground.com

Adventure Play

In recent years we have invested in a range of outdoor play equipment and installations, giving the children opportunities to climb and swing and develop their physical confidence.

Secret Garden

A development of the story-telling theme that permeates the school, the Secret Garden is a green, tree-filled space where children develop their imaginations, play and have stories told to them from the Story-telling Chair.

Light and Space

Our school was built in the 1960's with a strong emphasis on light and space. Being on one level, each classroom has an outside door straight onto the playground. All classrooms have the latest white-board technology, and we have recently extended the junior classrooms. Double-height ceilings in the communal areas give space for children to display their artwork.

London on our doorstep

We are very lucky to be surrounded by London's cultural opportunities. We have a strong relationship with St Paul's Cathedral, and have regular singing lessons under their schools' outreach programme. We are minutes from the DLR, so trips to museums and other venues are easy and frequent.
